Tonight my brother and I made orange chicken (recipe) and watched episodes 32-34 of Nirvana in Fire, the episodes also known as "could you just tell him what you're mad about already, for fucks sake???"

For a second there, we thought that Prince Jing might avoid being baited into pissing off the Emperor by declaring the Chiyan Army affair a big fat lie, but no. We appreciate your valiant efforts though, Meng Zhi (best boy).



I literally spent the entire scene with my hands on my head, cringing with my entire soul. And then. AND THEN! Prince Jing finds out about what happened to his mom! AND THEN HE BREAKS UP WITH MEI CHANGSU </3 </3 </3

The whole time my brother and I were yelling at the TV, "Just tell him about your mom! Tell him why you're mad!!! JUST TALK FOR FUCKS SAKE." They even get back together again without having addressed the issue!

However, I was very excited to see the return of Xia Dong, whom I love. Now I just wish Nihuang would come back? I miss her? I miss her little brother? They should be hanging out more. And Jingrui. Aww, simpler times, when we could have some light-hearted bantering with Jingrui, Yujin, Nihuang, and Mu Qing.

Anyway, in the meantime, Consort Jing continues to be the true queen. I feel like she is setting up her naughty spy maid somehow, but I guess my brother and I will find out next week.

Ohhh man the breakup episode had me in tears. I was so upset by it!! I am pretty sure my livetweet was just "JINgYANNNNNNNNNNNNNN." (It's so fucking good, how is that show so good!!!)

oh that breakup scene was BRUTAL! Mei Changsu's FACE! Dropping to his knees! Jingyan so absolutely furious and betrayed! It's so much.

And then the whole standing-in-the-snow scene, and the moment when Jingyan says "when I die and see xiao-Shu" -- just cut my entire heart out why don't you? aaaaaugh. This whole arc is so so good.

Ugh, yes! It was the WORST.

I wonder if Mei Changsu had even remotely anticipated that Jingyan would be just as dedicated to Lin Shu's memory as Mei Changsu is to Jingyan. Despite his belief that Jingyan would be distracted if he knew who Mei Changsu really is, he keeps expecting Jingyan to go along with his "forget the past, let's put you on the throne" agenda

god, yeah... like I think he knows and expects Jingyan to be committed to re-trying the Chiyan case, but he's not prepared for how much he cares about Lin Shu, even believing he's dead. I also think that, as much as he SAYS "Jingyan is hotheaded and emotional," he is consistently taken aback by Jingyan's actual emotions, and how hard they hit him.

I just love them, I love them.
