Prince Yu finally drops the idiot ball

hugseverycatMy brother and I watched episodes 27-31 of Nirvana in Fire tonight. Spoilers below the cut.
It's pretty thrilling to see Prince Yu finally realize that he hasn't actually been succeeding since he got this so-called Divine Talent on his side, and now he's enacting his big plan to implicate Prince Jing in the Chiyan Army case. It seems to be going pretty well, although Vegetable Guy (Tong something? Tong Yu?) did a pretty good job giving Qin Banruo worthless information. I hope he holds steady. I also thought the guy who was pretending to be a member of the Jiangzuo Alliance laid it on a little thick with the palace maid, although those girls seem rather over-excitable so it will probably be effective.
I wonder if Prince Jing is going to avoid being directly implicated because the Jiangzuo Alliance people will rescue that guy (Wei Something) instead of Prince Jing's people. But then Prince Yu (or let's be honest, Qin Banruo) will start to wonder why the Jiangzuo Alliance cares about the Chiyan Army case and will start looking into Mei Changsu more closely... hmmmmmmmm
And finally, let's not forget Consort Jing with her coded pastry messages! I love her. She'll make a great Empress Dowager.

Something about being the older long suffering lady of the house who still holds court imperiously with a really fucking cool headdress makes me really want to like her and root for her. So I'm a little bummed that she will probably be more in a villain role now that Prince Yu is now more explicitly an antagonist. But I get it, it's her job to support her son. Hopefully that support won't extend to literally trying to get somebody raped like a certain other consort we know...
